Meet your pilgrimage chaplain I'm Mike Houlik: husband, Episcopal priest, and father of two grown daughters (in that chronological order), and please call me Mike or Fr. Mike (as do my parishioners). I had the privilege of spending a month in Israel in 1996 on a sabbatical, and it was such a wonderful experience. I look forward to meeting you and being with you as fellow pilgrim/musician/chaplain as we visit many of the places where biblical events took place. |

Meet your pilgrimage coordinator, Hi, I’m Karen Telleen-Lawton: pilgrim, All Saints-by-the-Sea parishioner, and volunteer coordinator for our pilgrimage. I visited the Holy Land with the Diocese of Los Angeles in 2005 and 2007, and am excited to share this life-changing experience. My husband David is coming for the first time. Our daughter Emily (27) joined a Sabeel trip to Jerusalem in 2007, and our son Tim (25) hopes to go next year. In the other hours of the day I am a writer with emphases of the environment, justice and spirituality, and business/financial planning. |

Meet your pilgrimage guide Canon Iyad Qumri was born at the Augusta Victoria hospital on the Mount of Olives, and attended St. George’s School, run by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. He has guided dozens of Christian pilgrimages and cannot be tripped up on a Bible test! Last year he was made a Canon. Iyad’s wife Simone is the Librarian for St. George’s College; they couple have two teenage sons. |
