Faith Formation - Youth

Our Mission
The mission of our Youth Group is to come together to have fun, get to know one another, and grow in six areas of discipleship to Jesus where they will be growing in a life of:

       1. God-reflection or prayer
       2. God-likeness or wholeness
       3. God-connectedness or charismatic
       4. God-justice or compassion
       5. God-centeredness or evangelical
       6. God-awareness or sacrament

Each of the above concepts is touched upon throughout the year. The ideal is for all youth, by high school graduation, to:

      1. Have growth and confidence in the above six areas of discipleship and,
      2. Annually participate in one event that engages in a particular way for spiritual
          growth. For example, the confirmation process is an example of engaging with
          Sacrament and taking part in a mission trip is an opportunity for growth in
          Compassion.

Who
All students and their friends in 6th-12th grades

When (See sample calendar below)
· Sunday following the 10:00 am service for about an hour for fellowship, a service
project, or a lesson.

·          Monthly there will be one event that will tie together some of the discipleship
       concepts. Some examples are: an overnight lock-in, an u2charist worship
       service, an outreach project, or a contemplative prayer meeting.

·          There will also be opportunities for participation in the Colorado Episcopal Diocese
      weekend retreats (Genesis in Fall/Quest in Spring) and service to a community for
      a week every June as a mission group. Mission Trip 2009 destination will be the Lillian
      Vallely School in Blackfoot, ID to do construction projects.

Youth Calendar

Oct. 10 - High School Theological reflection at 10 am – Library

- Talent Show PRACTICE (we are putting the talent show on hold till the early winter!) 6:30-8:30 pm in the preschool wing.

October 15-17 Genesis Weekend in Buena Vista.

October 17 - No middle School TR this week

October 17 - Crop Walk 2-4 pm. Please contact Amy Thornbury if you'd like to walk or register online

October 23 - Work at the Silent Auction. You may choose childcare or food serving in exchange for a Mystery mission trip scholarship amount of $50.

October 24 - High School TR at 10 am.
- Clean Up of Jay Road after the 10:00 service

October 31 - Middle School TR at 10 am.

October 31 - Day of the Dead celebration at St. Ambrose. Bring $5 to cover the cost of making Sugar Skulls! 2-4 pm.
