Fellowship Opportunities
Fellowship ~ getting together ~ enjoying each other, having fun and growing.
It is often difficult to separate social opportunities from ministry and spiritual growth activities at St. Mary Magdalene, as they often overlap. Almost any activity begins and ends with a healthy dose of visiting with old-timers and meeting newcomers. Some activities are designed specifically to help us get to know one another better and to provide an atmosphere of relaxed interaction. Opportunities available are listed below; please ask the contact person or the Clergy any questions you may have.
Coffee Hour :Linger after both the 8:30 and 10:30 AM Sunday services for coffee (a fair trade decaf coffee), tea, juice, edible treats (at 10:30 AM) and great conversation.
Silent Auction: This annual fall fundraising event, which began in 1997, includes food, beverages and an evening of bidding on a variety of fun events and items. The proceeds go toward the support of outreach to the community. Child care is provided. Contact: Julie Lee-Taylor
Book Club :A book of interest is announced once a month in the parish bulletin with a location and time designated for discussion of the book. All are welcome.
Music Night:This event occurs approximately every other month for an evening of musical fellowship. It is held in various homes and is open to all parishioners – children, teens and adults. Participants bring a drink and hors d’oeuvre or snack to share.
Golf Tournament: This annual event is held with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Longmont. Teams “compete” for the famed Lavabo Cup. Golfers and non-golfers alike enjoy a picnic supper afterwards.
Lenten Soup Suppers:These suppers take place on Wednesday evenings during Lent. The evening begins with evening prayer followed by a soup supper (participants bring bread, soup, salad or wine) and concludes with a program. Programs have included outreach projects, spiritual formation activities and activities for children and youth.
Sew Merry Quilters: This group offers opportunities for quilting, conversation and stitching for both experienced and beginning quilters. Learn quilting tips and participate in the creation of a finished quilt that is donated to the annual Silent Auction with proceeds going to Outreach.
