 Membership

There are several ways to become a member: by confirmation, by letter of transfer from another congregation, or by actively participating in parish activities and completion of the Faith Matters course.

Covenant for Membership at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church

Having reaffirmed the promise made at my Baptism to follow Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and to renounce the evil powers of this world, I desire to become a member of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church. I commit myself to God and to the mission of St. Mary Magdalene, a community celebrating and sharing God’s love. I promise, as a member, to uphold the following tenants of our membership covenant:

1. I will protect the Unity of St. Mary Magdalene
.....by acting in love toward other members
.....by refusing to gossip
.....by praying for the leaders

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22:37-40)

Grant that your Church, being bound together in love and obedience to you, may be united in one body by the one Spirit.’ (BCP p. 255)

2. I will share the Responsibility of St. Mary Magdalene
.....by praying regularly for our growth, our leaders, and the
.....well-being of our members, this community & the world
.....by inviting the unchurched to attend
.....by warmly welcoming those who visit
.....by seeking to live a godly life with God’s help

And Jesus came and said to them, ‘all authority in heaven and on earth
has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
(Matthew 28:18-20)

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you
no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of
your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your
Holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP p. 355)

3. I will support the Mission and Ministries of St. Mary Magdalene
....by my regular presence at worship
....by my annual pledge of time, talent and treasure for the spread of God’s kingdom

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust
consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there you heart will be also. (Matthew 6:20-21)

O God, you make us glad with the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of your Son our Lord: Give us this day such blessing through our worship of you, that the week to come may be spent in your favor; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP p. 98)

4. I will Serve the ministries of St. Mary’s
....by discovering my gifts and talents
....by being equipped to seek and serve Christ in others
....by developing a servant’s heart

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve on another with
whatever gift each of you has received. (1 Peter 4:10)

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve....
(Mark 10:45)

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. (BCP p. 340)

I promise as a member, to uphold the above tenants of our membership covenant:
